MANAGEMENT

Reiss

REISS MORRISON

PRESIDENT AND WELFARE OFFICER

Reiss joined the Pro Bono Society as a volunteer in his first year of university, participating in both education projects (Aspire and OutLAW) as well as the penal projects (Unbarred and The Howard League for Penal Reform). In his second year he joined the Committee as Head of Aspire, expanding the project in several ways.

Heading into his final year, Reiss cannot wait to be a part of the Society’s growth and development.

In his spare time, Reiss loves watching Formula One racing and cheering on British World Champion, Lewis Hamilton! He has also returned from a year abroad studying in Austin, Texas.

ALED MCNEILE

VICE PRESIDENT

Aled has been involved with the Pro Bono Society since he joined in his first year. In his second year, Aled had the privilege of leading the Society’s successful OutLAW project, overseeing its growth and reach to more schools than before.

This year, Aled will be helping to oversee the Society’s growth as its Vice-President. He is excited to see what challenges await and can’t wait to get involved with Pro Bono again.

Aside from his studies, Aled enjoys travelling, and has recently returned from a year abroad exploring Canada.

Alita

ALITA ANIL

GENERAL SECRETARY

Alita is a second year law student, born and raised in Thailand. She had an amazing time volunteering for the Society last year and is hoping to help continue the great work the Society does, being a helping hand to the rest of the Committee.

Alita thinks big, and would love to see the Society expand its reach to an international level.

AZARIA HENG

TREASURER

Azaria has been previously been involved with JLAP and A2J and is excited to see these budding projects flower in the coming year. He has great ideas for sustainability as well as keeping the Society financially stable.

Azaria
Abi

ABI LYNCH

FUNDRAISING REPRESENTATIVE

Abi took on this new role last year having previously been involved in a variety of different projects. She wanted to see what being on our Committee was like and loved it!

As Fundraising Representative is a new position within the Committee, Abi feels another year in the role will allow her to figure out what the responsibilities are and to define it.

Abi hopes to make the Pro Bono Society's fundraising efforts even stronger than they already are, and wants to involve more volunteers in our events (working with our Project Heads to achieve this).

Abi's favourite book is On the Road by Jack Kerouac, and her favourite TV show is Grey's Anatomy!

LAUREN HAWKINS

FIRST YEAR REPRESENTATIVE

Lauren was elected late last year as semester one of university was underway. She is responsible for representing the views of all first year students as well as organising social events with the President!

Lauren

PROJECT HEADS

Imaan

IMAAN MIAH

CO-HEAD OF ASPIRE

Imaan spontaneously decided to volunteer with the Pro Bono Society’s Aspire project during the end of his second year. He enjoyed it so much that after his second session he asked the former Project Head to be team leader.

Imaan really enjoyed how grounding it can be to work with children and listen to their wholesome perspectives, especially coming from a degree background with so much contention (he studies politics!).

HANNAH MCGREEVY

CO-HEAD OF THE HOWARD LEAGUE FOR PENAL REFORM

Hannah has previously been a member of the Unbarred project (below) which she thoroughly loved. She says it has been a privilege to engage with current inmates and share relevant information with them.

Hannah is looking forward to understanding the criminal justice system better through the Howard League project and organising ways for others to also have similar exposure.

Living in Kenya for the last five years, this has given Hannah an insight into living and working in another culture!

Hannah M
Megan

MEGAN FIRTH

CO-HEAD OF THE HOWARD LEAGUE FOR PENAL REFORM

Megan got involved in the Pro Bono Society during her first year and volunteered for several projects, including Unbarred and JLAP. Working with Hannah this year, she is excited to continue the work of the previous co-heads and expand the project further!

Megan enjoys singing and used to play a lot of cricket, including playing in a county team!

OSAMAMEN OSA-IDAHOSA

HEAD OF JUNIOR LAWYERS AGAINST POVERTY (JLAP)

Osamamen has had an amazing time with the Pro Bono Society so far. Last year, she was involved in JLAP, Aspire and Access to Justice. She is looking forward to the exciting work we have planned for next year and working amongst the new Committee.

Osamamen has lived in 3 countries! Also, her favourite Netflix movie is What Happened to Monday.

Ryan

RYAN DAMASUS NG

HEAD OF NEGOTIATIONS

Ryan is from Singapore, currently studying Law. He is really excited to be part of such an active society that has many engaging events.

Ryan has participated in projects such as Aspire and was the first runner-up for last semester's BCLP Negotiation competition. He was extremely grateful for the whole experience and is really looking forward to this year’s competition.

Ryan enjoys cooking, meeting new people and learning about new cultures.

IAN CHU

CO-HEAD OF OUTLAW

Joining the Society in his first year was a great experience and was a natural extension from the volunteering Ian was involved in during high school. He is glad to be able to combine both his passion for law and volunteer teaching, giving students a taste of the legal profession and law in university.

Ian's favourite film is In the Mood for Love!

Ian
Anagha

ANAGHA JADHAV

CO-HEAD OF OUTLAW

Anagha's experience with the Pro Bono Society includes volunteering with Aspire and OutLAW. Volunteering with both projects helped her learn more about the surrounding community in Nottingham and also helped her transition into university life because she got to meet many new people.

Being a member of the Pro Bono Society allowed her to improve a number of skills through volunteering with different types of projects. As a co-head for OutLAW, Anagha is looking forward to taking this project forward by increasing the number of schools we can work with and introducing ideas such as mentoring schemes to help aspiring law students achieve their goals.

Anagha has travelled a lot! She has lived and studied in India, Singapore and Dubai. She is really excited to be living in the UK now and experiencing life here!

HANNAH HARRISON

HEAD OF STREETLAW

Hannah has absolutely loved her time with the Pro Bono Society. She says everyone has been so encouraging and eager to make a difference.

Hannah has gained so much confidence in herself and her legal abilities after getting involved in Pro Bono’s vast array of amazing projects. She hopes to do the same for others next year.

Hannah is a part of the University of Nottingham’s A Capella society (they're currently rehearsing for a Spice Girls medley!).

Kadell

KADELL GREY

CO-HEAD OF UNBARRED

Kadell got involved with the Pro Bono Society in his second year, starting off as a volunteer for the Unbarred Project where he attended the likes of HMP Sudbury for workshops. Alongside this Kadell visited HMP Whatton with the Howard League for Penal Reform, meeting prisoners and gaining insight into their experiences.

In the oncoming year Kadell is looking forward to increasing his involvement with the Society and being in a better position to make a difference to the lives of others. As a whole he has found that the Society provides a sense of reward that you’ll struggle to find elsewhere!

Before coming to university, Kadell spent time travelling Central America, visiting the likes of Costa Rica and Nicaragua. Here he got involved in building a school, aiding with animal conservation. He also went volcano boarding!

FATIMAH KHAWAJA

CO-HEAD OF UNBARRED

Fatimah's time with the Pro Bono Society thus far has been eye opening to say the least. She says it has given her insight and exposure to people and scenarios that she would not have been exposed to but for the Society.

Next year she is looking forward to perhaps taking Unbarred in a different direction so we can help and meet with a larger variety of people.

Fatimah loves travelling and has visited 17 countries!

Fatimah
Alejandra

 ALEJANDRA RODRÍGUEZ

HEAD OF ACCESS TO JUSTICE

Alejandra has had a marvellous time as a member of Pro Bono this year, attending many of the events held such as the Client-Earth and Reprieve talks. After joining Aspire, Outlaw and Access to Justice, she not only gained a lot of valuable experience but also made great friends. Alejandra is really looking forward to getting to know all Committee members and the new volunteers joining this year. She aims to get the project's new app developed and marketed to our members, hoping also to organise technology workshops.

Alejandra is Spanish but studied in a German School until she came to the UK to do her A -Levels. She is obsessed with food, especially Japanese and Mexican, and loves sunshine and yoga!

ZAKIYA PATEL

CO-HEAD OF ASPIRE

Zakiya thoroughly enjoyed volunteering for the Pro Bono Society's OutLAW and Aspire projects in her first year and being the Society's General Secretary in her second year. This inspired her to become the Co-Head of Aspire in her final year, ending her time at university in the best way possible by leading a project which she is incredibly passionate about.
