School Tasking

COMMUNITY

About Us
School Tasking is an outreach project within ASPIRE and part of the national Taskmaster Education initiative, currently running across more than 30 universities in the UK and Ireland. The project brings law students into less-advantaged primary schools to deliver fun, interactive sessions that introduce students to key legal ideas in an accessible and memorable way. We focus on empowering young learners through creativity, teamwork, and hands-on problem-solving, while widening access to legal education early on.

What Do We Do?
We work with Year 5 classes in local schools to run a series of four sessions in Semester 2, each lasting around 90 minutes to two hours. Students take part in playful “Taskmaster-style” challenges that develop communication, creativity, and resilience, while also being introduced to legal topics such as statutory interpretation, tort, and human rights through simple, interactive games. Teams earn points throughout the programme, with the chance to progress to regional and national finals to compete for the title of “School Tasking Champions.”

Why JOIN School Tasking?
This project offers a unique chance to combine volunteering, teaching, and legal education in a fun, informal setting. As a volunteer, you’ll mentor students, teach legal concepts, and help judge and facilitate challenges, gaining valuable experience in leadership, communication, and public engagement. School Tasking is ideal if you want to build confidence, enhance your CV, or simply enjoy working with young people in a lively and meaningful environment. It’s an opportunity to make a tangible difference while being part of a national initiative that celebrates creativity and inclusion.
